Portrait of founder Jack Renze

THE FOUNDER

Built by Jack Renze

House of Renze was founded by Jack Renze in Kansas City.

What began as an interest in fragrance became an obsession with how scent is built — how a small change in one material can completely alter a composition, how a fragrance develops over hours on skin, and how every detail surrounding the scent changes the way it is experienced.

Rather than simply creating another bottle of cologne, Jack wanted House of Renze to feel like a true fragrance house: deliberate, recognizable, and personal.

From developing each formula to designing the presentation and preparing the finished bottles, House of Renze is built hands-on from beginning to end.

HOW HOUSE OF RENZE BEGAN

From an idea to a house.

House of Renze started with experimentation.

One formula became another. Then another.

Materials were tested, ratios changed, ideas discarded, and compositions rebuilt from the beginning. What started as creating fragrance gradually became something larger — developing a distinct style, presentation, and identity around every release.

The goal was never to produce as many fragrances as possible.

It was to make fewer fragrances with a reason to exist.

Each House of Renze release is treated as its own project, developed until the fragrance feels complete rather than rushed onto a shelf.

That philosophy became House of Renze.

THE PROCESS

Six months. Hundreds of trials. One finished bottle.

A House of Renze fragrance can take more than six months to develop.

It begins with an idea: a feeling, an atmosphere, a material, or a specific direction the fragrance is meant to capture.

Then the testing begins.

Individual materials are evaluated. Accords are constructed. Ratios are adjusted by fractions. Early formulas are worn and tested over time before being changed, rebuilt, and tested again.

Hundreds of trial variations can be created during the development of a single fragrance.

Some changes are obvious. Others can be almost microscopic — slightly reducing one material, increasing another, or changing the balance of an accord until every part of the fragrance works together.

Once the formula reaches its final form, the process continues.

The fragrance is blended, rested, evaluated again, bottled, labeled, and prepared by hand. Each bottle is then placed into its wooden presentation box with its accompanying fragrance card and finishing materials.

From the first trial to the finished bottle, the process takes months.

Because the final one should feel like it was worth all the ones that came before it.
